Snapchat has become one of Facebook's biggest competitors and looks raise their game while integrating a brand new feature into its main app. Just added is Facebook Stories which allows users to post a series of pictures and videos, only to have them disappear 24-hours later.
In Facebook's biggest push to compete with Snapchat on the world's largest social stage, they've just decided to go global with their newest feature. Facebook Stories makes them much more competitive with other social media sites such as Instagram, What's App, and of course, Snapchat.
Facebook Stories isn't exactly new as it's already been launched in markets outside of the US with Ireland and Chile being two of the largest. Facebook looks to appeal to the world's largest market with more than 1.7 billion mobile visitors alone, in just one month. The real-time storybook feature gives users what they've been asking for with millions of users resorting to other apps globally.
There are numerous similarities with Stories and other apps. Masks is one filter which is similar to Snapchat Lenses which allows you to give other users accessories such as glasses or a mustache. The new feature looks to appeal to the widest user base which includes those who range in age from 18-24.
After Facebook's failed attempts to buy Snapchat, the new feature makes the most sense. It's been a long time coming, but it'll be interesting to see if Facebook can lure the billions of users away from other platforms which have already become extremely popular.
